ASoIA Arizona Salon of Independent Artists by Bob Atkinson

ASoIA
Arizona Salon of Independent Artists

(c)2012 Bob Atkinson

one can tire quickly of
working hard at developing art
grow talent to produce a line
of that which brings all smiles

here and there you sell a piece
spending ten for each you keep
all the while working hard
for a name and rewards large

tired of this useless task
one must of course settle back
onto the road of retrenchment
banding with others for progress

will of course run into walls
but if we're smart we'll hang in halls
our best works of arts and such
making good names for us

we join together as a lot
giving, getting or fretting not
drive good bargains all around
display our names when we go to ground

ASoIA starts here and now
Arizona of which we're proud
Salon, the show we do quite often
our good slabs of oils, sculptures

independents 'cause that's our nature
our culture's diverse with styles, creations
artists because of our work for people
artistic talent drawn from research

our smiles large
our work quite hard
our endeavor to succeed
always in our hearts and deeds

Opportunity for Poets in Tucson

There's a great opportunity  poets to do readings of their poetry, and join in open competition sponsored by ASoIA with those poems.  Maxine, of Tucson's Clay Co-op is currently producing pottery with inscriptions of local poet's works on them.  We will have some readings to commemorate this activity, to include open competition with prizes and ribbons.  Please let your poets know of this opportunity, having them contact Maxine directly:

ARIZONA SOCIETY OF INDEPENDENT ARTISTS

Dedicated to enhancing the status of its members in their chosen artistic fields via frequent interaction with the lay public, enhancing the public's knowledge of their disciplines, and promoting artistic displays and juried shows by exhibiting the works of members to the public in competitive, fast paced formats, rather than peers as has been the historical approach of other like groups.

This group is not for the faint of heart, lazy or unskilled in their art. It is for those willing to be haunted and those
excessively preoccupied with their chosen craft. It is for those who wish to become or become known as the very best in their discipline. Those who will be remembered in a 100 years. THIS GROUP IS NOT FOR THE LAY PUBLIC.

This group is dedicated to the preservation of traditional skills, values and performance. This is not for those who throw paint against the wall and call it "Art."
